I know it's very common to not get your period for a long time if you are EBF, but I'm curious on average when most women will get their first period. I know every woman is different and it is more likely to return after the introduction of solids and when baby is sleeping through the night. Generally speaking though, when should I expect my first period?

not sure I'm the best to ask as I think I'm out of the norm but...I don't usually get mine back until we begin to wean. My kiddo's usually nurse until 19 months or so. So a good 19 months for me.

I was wondering this too, I've only breastfed this one baby so far, and I want to have another one and I haven't gotten a period yet at all. I am getting my IUD out and just going to use bf for b/c for now.

Mine came back at 9 months. I could feel my body getting ready for it a good month earlier, by some cramping I was experiencing. You might feel the same thing to warn you that it's on it's way. (DD started solids at 6 months, so that fits perfectly with what you said)

I'm not gonna be much help. jackson is 4.5 months old and i have absolutely no signs of af. We will be starting solids at 6 months, i'll be pretty happy if she stays away for nine months like she did for Andrea.

Wow, 19 months would be great. I won't hold out for it though. And for reference, my daughter is 7 months and a week old now and I don't feel any signs that AF is near. She began solids at 6 months but is still waking up to eat at night.

I got mine when Alexa was about 3 months. But then again, she started sleeping 5-6 hours a night at 6 weeks, and 8-10 hours a night at about 9 weeks - so I blame that! I'd rather have the sleep though, even though AF is a pain in the patoot.

AF came to my house 5 months PP. Every woman is different! Maybe it's a sign for me to get preggers again

I am 8 months PP, and still no period here. Carter has been on solids since 5 months, however he does still nurse 2-3 times every night.

I agree with everyone else. With my first it was about 4 months. With my second it was closer to a year. With Coral it was 14 months. I've read on the TTC while breastfeeding sites that are out there that the biggest way to bring on AF is to change your breastfeeding pattern - suddenly stop feeding at night, drop a couple feedings during the day and supplement, etc etc. Anything that suddenly loses a 5 or 6 hour time period of baby nursing.I don't know how true that is but my first slept through the night at 4 months and there AF was, my middle DD started around a year and there AF was, and Coral dropped from eating several times a night to just once or twice and AF came along. Of course that's no guarantee because every woman is different, but the patterns I've noticed for a lot of women is the return of AF after night sleeping or for some women after weaning. So basically I have no idea what to tell you in your case LOL

I spotted when Grady was 7.5 months then I had a regular period the week he turned 9 months. He started solids at 6 months and still nurses several times a night so I guess it was just my time. The week I started my period he was EBF'ing due to a stomach bug...so go figure.
And to add....I spotted for 2 days about 2 weeks after AF came the first time. Things are wacky here and I feel like I am hormone overload!!

I hope so for me too, I been getting cramps on and off for several days now, and the last time I felt cramps like this...... But then again Im still EBF with occasional pumping, like maybe three times a month if that, and my baby sleeping through the night was gradual....2hrs, 3hrs, 4hrs, 6hrs, now its 8hrs, eat, sleep for three more hours.
