I hope someone can help! My nipple is killing me Jack has 6 teeth, the bottom middle 2 are all the way in and the top middle 4 are poked through (all in one weekend!). Well, he bit down and pulled off while still attached and I have about an inch long scratch/cut (if stretched out.... sounds so wierd, I know!!!!). Its not bleeding now, did when he did it (saw blood in my nursing bra). It hurts so bad when I nurse him!! Its only in the injured area of my nipple and not all over the nipple so I dont think its thrush. Any ideas how to heal it? I've tried putting breastmilk on it. Can I use neosporin? Would Lanolin heal it? TYIA!

Breastmilk and air are your best bet to heal it quickly. The breastmilk will also help you from getting an infection from it. You could try some neosporin, but wipe it off before nursing him again just to be safe. The lanolin might help it feel better too, at least temporarily. It should heal quickly in the next few days though and you should feel better. I've also noticed that DD would nurse a lot more aggressively when she was teething and my nipples would get sore from that, so that might be adding to your pain. I hope you are feeling better soon!

OUCH - that sounds painful!!! I'm not looking forward to when my LO starts teething.
When I first started BFing, we had some problems with proper latching and I ended up with cracked and bleeding nipples. Everyone told me to use Lanolin and BM and air dry. That didn't do much to heal it. But my lac consultant got me an Rx for something called All Purpose Nipple cream. It's the BEST! Cures everything (or so it seems).
It's about $20, so I don't know if it's worth it for you - I guess it depends on how often you nurse. I was nursing every 1.5-2 hours back then, so there wasn't enough time between nursing sessions for the BM and Lansinoh to work well enough. But if you nurse much less frequently then the Lansinoh might do the trick. Hope it heals soon!

Thanks!! I think i'll try some neosporin in the meantime. The breastmilk and Lanolin doesnt seem to be helping If its still really sore I am going to try to get in the doctors tomorrow. I noticed a few pink/red dots on my boob now so I am worried that its the start of mastitis... there are multipe dots the size of a dull pencil tip (not raised but just changes in the skin). I didnt realize it was possible to get mastitios this late in the game! Its been over 8 mo of doing great.... figures! Thanks for the help. I will ask about that cream!! Sounds great!
