Did any of your LO's hate Paci's at first? How long does It take for them to get used to them? All Cambria wants to do Is suck but Refuse's a Paci..She just doesn't understand how to "suck" It In...She keeps pushing it out with her tounge. It always turns into a screaming fit and I have to give her the boob again! I want her to be able to soothe herself while trying to go to sleep, and suggestions??
I kept trying with Lawson and sometimes he will be able to take it for a little longer than others but most of the time he spits it out. Recently he started soothing
himself by sucking his thumb. I would rather him take a paci cause I can take it away when he is older but oh well...
Anyway I think he started doing this because he is in daycare and they cant always pick him up right when he cries like I do so I think that is what got him to start sucking his thumb. He only sucks his thumb at home when I am trying to get situated to give him the boob...
Also my mom can get him to take a paci better than I can, could be because he knows I have the real deal...
My guy wouldn't take the paci, and I was never able to get him to. Oh well. He's 6 months old now, and doesn't need it. Actually, what I did was let him suck on my pinky. That he would take. Go figure!

Mya never wanted one, but I kept trying. LOL..... Turns out, she needed daddy to give it to her. She will take it with no problem from daddy, but until she got used to how to keep it in her mouth, she was having none of that from me. Maybe trying having your DH give it to her

My first took one, my second refused it and never has taken it. You can try putting it in and holding it in and rocking her while holding it (this worked with my fist but not my second) , but honestly some kids don't like them. Perhaps trying other alternatives .....my baby finds holding a teddy soothing, some perfer music and some suck there tumbs/fingers or paci, you can also try a damp cloth, blanket with silk etc.
We use the ones called soothies. I find I have to wiggle it back and forth a lot for him to take it. I like the soothies because there is a hole in the middle so I can pop it back in really easily if he pops it out!
I have every kind! The soothie does work the best out if all i will say. She hates the darker colored ones ( not sue if thats the laytex ones ) and always gags on them. Even nipples that are that color. I would think since I have to use a shield she would take a paci...She just starting taking bottles ( unfortunetly i dont pump much though ) but used to gag on those all the time. I haven't had DH give it to her yet, ill try that. He always freaks out though and has no patience
