Hey ladies had a question. Whe you breastfeed, can you diet? How much? I am wanting a big family and ttc about 8-12 months past my babies birth, but i really need to loose some weight, and I dont want to stop breastfeeding. Is there anything to help so I dont effect my supply and still loose weight?

Also, TTC while breastfeeding, I have never tried, I have pumped becfore and was still leaking, when I had gotten preggers before, so I was wondering, if I Breastfeed on a regualr basis, will it totally kill us TTC? Should I just pump while ttc? I have no clue how to do this at all. Thanks again!!

I have never ttc (both of mine were oopsies), so I can't help you there except to point you toward the tandem nursing board. I don't know how active the board is, but it might be worth checking out.

As for weight loss, BFing is great at helping mommy lose weight after the baby. I gained 44lbs during my pregnancy. I am now a little less than 4mo PP, and I'm 2lbs below my pre-preg weight, and still losing about 2lbs per week. I pretty much eat whatever I want... and don't exercise much at all. I know weight watchers has a special program for nursing mothers, but I don't know what's different about it.

Good luck!

You are not really supposed to "diet" as in cutting calories because it can affect your milk production. But, you can really watch the calories you take in and make sure they are all healthy. You can also exercise, so you can still lose weight, you just can't do it super fast.

Every woman is different when it comes to getting pregnant again. My cycles returned after about 2 months of breastfeeding, and I had a friend who went the full year she breastfed without having one. It is very individual, so it might be more of a wait and see type of thing.

Good luck!

I started weight watchers 20 weeks ago. My baby is 6 months old. Since I started I've lost 23 pounds. We are still exclusively breastfeeding. I have done a little bit of exercising, but not much. Mostly it's been about smarter food choices. Choosing healthier options, less sugar, more veggies and fruits, etc.

I hate you I still look 5 months preggo *jealous*

Every woman is different, I think it all depends on your own metabolism. Theres me, I have always been able to eat what I want and not gain weight. Having a baby changed that.....I dropped to 130lbs from 152lbs at 41weeks and have stayed there I was 110lbs for 10years when I got pregnant. I think the best way to exercise is to start slowly. And the best way to exercise is within 45mins of just waking up.
