Well It has been 5 days and my nipples hurt but only when he lactches on he has a good latch but my nipples are so sore. My question is, is there anything I can do to stop them from hurting?

You may already be doing some of these things.

~Rubbing them with breast milk and letting them air dry after feedings
~Using Lansinoh liberally
~Make sure he has a deep latch every time (fish lips, chin buried in breast--not nose, etc)
~Do not wash nipples with soap, just warm water
~If you're doing all of the above, it may just take a bit of time for your nips to "toughen up" I'm nearing 2 weeks and initial latch still hurts a bit, but it's sooo much better than a week ago.

Mine were excruciating for two weeks.....I used Lansinoh every time and then before I knew it the pain was a distant memory! I was worried that something was wrong because everyone said if I was doing it right it wouldn't hurt.....what did they know!??!

Sounds like Thrush to me. Usually an indication of thrush is pain during latch on and then not much to no pain during feeding. I am battling round 3 of thrush right now and frankly I HATE IT UGH...

Are your nipples cracked?
