So my left side is soo sore!!! It has been this way on and off ever since she was born...I think it is because this side produces more milk so she doesn't have to suck as hard and gets lazy when latching..and causes my soreness.

I have been putting Lanolin on it, which helps a little but any other advice would be great!

Thanks Ladies!!

At almost 2 months old, you should not still be sore. There is definitely a problem, and you should see a LC ASAP to get things evaluated. Some babies latch wrong on just one side, so that is a possibility. You may also have thrush that is affecting just one side for some reason. Start by seeing a LC or contacting your local LLL leader, to rule out the possibility of latch, positioning or sucking issues. If those check out, then you might want to try treating for thrush to see if the pain improves.

Also try expressing breastmilk after she nurses, and letting it air dry. Breastmilk has natural healing properties and can reduce your soreness.

THank you soo much for your replies. I did email my local LLL-- so hopefully she can help me. Do you think it would be ok to nurse off my ok side and pump off my other side until it heals? I would give her a bottle of EBM when it was time to feed on that side???

I wasn't sure if she may resist going back to nursing on that side if I did that?

Any ideas on that would be appreciated. It is just tooo sore to nurse on that side.....

Andrea - I did what you suggested with putting BM on it and letting it air dry....it does feel a little better since doing this. Thank you!
