ok so I was trying to get her to latch on today on my rt boob and she did It without the shield. I had to pull her off though cause It was soooooo painful. Later on I tryed her on my left and It wasn't as bad so I stuck it out and she nursed on that one for abut 40 min's. My question Is she seemed to get more with out the sheild. Is that possiabe? I heard her swallowing sooner and sucking faster then with the sheild. I dont know If It's possiable sane It's coming from the same place and all Ive always had problems with the left one. It's always the one that hurts more, doesn't produce enough milk, I can't pump out as much, etc....But does the pain get better the more she learn's to not use the sheild?
Hey there. I used a shield also up until about 2 weeks ago. My DD is almost 12 weeks. I finally weaned her off of it because I was so sick and tired of the inconvenience of it. But anyway, to answer your questions...I think they do get the milk faster without the shield. Lily used to nurse for 30-45 minutes per feeding and ever since a couple days after we stopped using the shield she now nurses for about 10 minutes. (Unless she is nursing for comfort, like in the evenings) I know she has to just be getting it faster because once she is done she is satisfied and doesnt want to eat again for another 3-4 hours. Also...the pain did get better for me. It hurt for the first couple days but now it doesnt hurt at all. I hope that helped!
