Ladies,

I wanted to know when I should start wearing that sheild to make my nipples stick out? Like a week or so before giving birth? (scheduled c-section) or wait until after birth? I had problems last time and wanted to be READY this time for that initial latch.

Any suggestions?

I am not sure, I had to use a shield when DS was first born, I know that Lansinoh also makes a thing called a latch assist. I think it more or less creates suction and makes your nipples stick out. My local walmart carries them but I never tried it.

Well the shields that I am talking about you wear in your bra and then take them off to nurse.

I started useing mine the day after she was born. She couldnt latch on so the LC gave it to me. She's bee useing it ever since.....

The information I found says you can start wearing them in the 3rd trimester. Here's a link with several pages that have information on nursing with flat/inverted nipples and how to prepare them:
