My DS is around 9 months and teething on the top. My nipples are so sore from him I can barely stand to nurse him. Any suggestions? i am not ready to wean him yet. Air, shields, lanolin???? Help...... I am almost in tears whenever he nurses and I never had this before.

I have no experience in this area yet but wanted to wish you a speedy "getting over this hump"

Soothies gel pads are WONDERFUL. You can put them in the fridge and they really help soothe sore and irritated nipples. I would use that and the lanolin after each nursing session and make sure when you pull him off that his teeth dont scrape your nipple.

I just posted in the PR about being pain free for 2 days due to something similar. Actually Lucy bit me and then her top tooth came in before it completely healed and she was latching weird. What I did was just cake on the lanolin after each feeding and watched her latch closely. (Something I haven't really done since she was a month old) It took time but I finally feel normal again and she's not latching on w/ her teeth. Those gel pads sound like they would help too. I hope you start to feel better. I know how it is to dread a feeding because it's painful.
