Well we have made it to the 4 month mark! Everything is going great, but I have begun to notice she has been clawing at her ear while eating. She is constantly flexing her little hand and digging her nails in and around her ear... if I don't stop it she makes it all raw and red, some skin peels off...

Why is she doing this? What can I do to stop her?

For now I simply hold her hand... but maybe there is more I can be doing?
Thanks!

My Luke does the same thing! If I don't let him claw up his ear, then he's busy pinching and clawing at ME!

I just try to keep him occupied... I don't know what else to do, either! Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone!

Well, it may just be that she needs to occupy her hands while nursing, you could try getting a nursing necklace or it may be that she has an ear infection because the sucking usually will make their ear hurt more. But if she doesn't have any other signs and doesn't really grab at her ear any other time then maybe she just needs to keep her little hands busy. Jackson grabs at my nursing bra and smacks my boob. Silly babies.

I didn't bf with my first, but she used to dig/claw at her ear when she was tired. She's almost 3 and still does it from time to time.

Mine does this too. She has for months now. I thought it may have been an ear infection, but it wasn't. It's just a Nervous tick. It's usually when she's tired. Lately now she's been pulling and clawing at ME too --> like the PP mentioned! I can't get her to stop for nothing!

What's a nursing necklace and where do I find one? lol.

nursing necklace aids in reducing pinching, pulling, distractibility and other common busy baby problems![/b]

Wow! Those are really nice! I am for sure going to try finding something like this for Kairi. I hope she takes to it.
