So when did you all start cereal with your babies? Emily's a little over 4 months now and though she doesn't seem like she really needs anything solid yet, I am wondering if it's the right time to start. I was never successful BFing my other kids so this is the first time I've gotten to this point with an EBF baby. What are some signs the baby is ready for cereal? Did the cereal affect the BFing at all?

I waited until 6 months. Both of my girls were not into solids until then plus I heard it was better to wait. We didn't do cereal for long. It's fun when they start eating solids

Abby was almost 6 months and I'll wait until at least 6 months with this one. I feel there are benefits to waiting until closer to 6 months and making sure your baby is ready.

I tried at 4 months due to pessure from DH but he didnt take to it and we tried 3 days in a row, so after that I quit and waited until he was 6 months and about a week old! That seemed to work better for us.

I just gave my LO rice cereal this weekend just to try him out and he did very well. I gave him about 5 baby spoonfulls of it. Each time I put the spoon in his mouth, he never turned away from it, he seemed to enjoy it more and more. I"m not replacing his breastfeedings with it. Breastmilk is still his main source of food and I won't be feeding him cereal every day. I just wanted to try it out to see how he does.

If you're baby is not ready, then don't force. just follow their lead.

Noelia is almost 8 months old and I havent started cereal yet.I was told to do so at 4 months old,but didnt.I dont know when we´ll start, neither of us are in a rush.
She gets one bowl of veggie puree a day and thats all we are doing right now.

My pedi is going to suggest introducting cereal at 4 months (he mentioned it at our 2 month appt). DH is excited about it because he wants to be able to feed Reid, we'll probably try for FUN, but it will not yet be his source of food. I'm thinking of seriously introducing it at 6 months.
