My little dude has a fever... we were in the ER last night and got a bag of antibiotics and he still has a temp over a hundred. I've been nursing him every 2 hours (usually 3ish) to keep him hydrated and more or less "happy" (he's just super cranky)... but should I be giving him water or pedialyte, too? One of the nurses offered and took me by surprise and I automatically turned her down... and now I'm not sure. We'll see our PCP tomorrow and actually have to call the ER doc back in an hour for an update, but was just curious what you ladies think?
AFAIK breastmilk should be enough, your body should notice a feverish baby. I remember that when my girl got sick when she was EBF that I just offered her the boob all the time. She was quite happy to enjoy it. I noticed that her poo turned greener, I took this as a sign of my body producing more foremilk to hydrate her.
