About a week ago I stareted to notice that my daughter has 2 dark spots on her bottom lip both on either side. They never used to be there. My mom is telling me it comes from breast feeding but I don't know. Has this happened to anyone else?
Dark, but what color? My second DD had hemangiomas on her lip (they were usually a dark red, sometimes purple-looking), and they didn't start showing up until she was about six weeks old, so they aren't always apparent right at birth. Hers grew until she was about 18 months, and then started to decrease in size and is now completely gone (she's almost 7).
Babies also get the nursing callous, but it's usually the upper lip in the middle, I think. Don't quote me on that, though.
ETA: Dr Green says they usually peak long before my daughter's peaked (and hers lasted longer than what he said is the norm)... but, anyway, here's the link for that:
