Violet is 9 days old and I'm still having some pain during nursing. My left side is totally fine, but my right nipple has a small crack across the tip of the nipple. Her latch is excellent now (the first day or so we had a few issues), but the crack still hurts really badly when she first latches. For the first 15-30 seconds I almost want to cry it hurts to badly. Then the pain goes away, but I've noticed that while she nurses I feel a really weird pulling sensation that is pretty uncomfortable sometimes. It's like she's sucking really hard for just a second and almost feels like she's pulling a clog out or something, it's hard to explain. It's definitely not my milk letting down though. And I've also noticed a tingling sensation after nursing in one, or sometimes both, nipples that is pretty uncomfortable.

At first I thought it was just super sensitivity, but now I'm thinking it is possibly thrush. Or maybe it's just soreness from nursing again? I'm just not sure since I never had any issues nursing Lily. I was thinking of starting grapefruit seed extract, but do I give it to Violet as well? She has no signs of thrush that I can tell.

It wouldn't hurt to treat for thrush to see if that helps. If you use GSE, use the liquid and you can also give that to her. Here's a link that explains how to use it:
Candida Protocol

Also, if you never had thrush with Lily, I can copy/paste some information on treating it for you.
