I've had horrible muscle knots and tension in my shoulder lately, and it's been recommended that I take magnesium and potassium supplements. Does anyone know if this is safe/unsafe while breastfeeding? I'm in terrible pain, and nothing else seems to be helping....
Thank you! I was prescribed both Vicodin and Motrin after my c-section. I scoffed at the Motrin and thought, "Why take Motrin when I can take the Vicodin, and it's still safe to breastfeed?" Well... the Vicodin worked great for my c-section soreness, but did nothing for my shoulder pain. I ran out of the Vicodin and decided not to get it refilled... I tried heating pads, hot showers, massaging... nothing helped my shoulder, and I wasn't getting ANY sleep. So I decided to take a Motrin as a last resort before heading to the store to get the supplements. Oh my gosh... MOTRIN IS A WONDER DRUG! I think I'll still pick up the supplements, though.... I still get the shoulder pain once the Motrin wears off, and I figure if the supplements can't hurt baby and can actually be beneficial to me... why not?
