Thanks for posting these!

Many people recomended "Growing Kids God's Way" when i was pregnant. I was all for it, and was about to purchase, when i decided to look it up on amazon first. I was astonished at the bad reviews, and the excerpts listed. It just looks cruel to me. I informed my husband that this was NOT how we would be parenting.

Demand feeding is SOOOOOO important. I was about to post about it actually. Remember how my pedi recomended that i formula feed for a week and pump and dump when we realized Teddy's milk allergy? That week DESTROYED my milk. I didn't realize it at first. I just thought the weird sea green foamy diarrhea was another part of the allergy. All the literature pointed to foremilk hindmilk imbalance, but how could that be when i didn't seem to have ENOUGH milk? That's when i read the you can get a fat imbalance when not nursing frequently. I certainly wasn't pumping frequently. Maybe every 4-5 hours.

When we started nursing again, Teddy nursed constantly and i was frustrated, but i let him stay on the boob for hours at times. And finally after almost a month, my milk is nice an fatty again and his poop is normalizing. Now he has longer intervals between feeds because they are more satisfying. I can even see the difference in the amount of fat floating on top of my pumped milk. I just wish i had known this before! I never would have taken my pedi's advice.

I read Babywise when I was pregnant. I admit I was totally offended on the chapter about post partum depression. He basically blames the mother for not following the schedule. Lame.

Thanks for posting! I hadn't heard of the program, but am glad to be aware of its shortcomings. My LO has a schedule, but it's a schedule he set.

Yikes, that makes me even happier that I never picked up that book!
