My DD is 7 months old so I know it will probably be a while, but I'm just wondering when babies finally get enough solids so that they don't need as much milk? 10 months? 12 months?

My DD still nurses just as much as ever when I'm around (weekends), but that could be partly since I'm away from her all day 5 days a week

Yup that
I went back to work when DD was 21 months and at the time she was nursing at least 8-10 times a day. Being away from her for hours broke that pattern. I think that the least nursing she did when I was SAHM would be around 6 nursing sessions in a day... not sure though. What can I say, that girl sure loves her boob .

My DD will be a year old in a couple of weeks, and she nurses 4-5x/day. She recently cut back from 6x/day over the last month. Most ladies in my PR are doing 3-4x/day right now.

When I nursed my second DS he was down to only nursing 1-2x during the night by 1 year. By 10 months he only wanted to nurse before naps. But he never was "addicted" to the boob (except during the night!). Once he started solids he wasn't interested at all during the day unless he was tired.

I have a feeling Leah will be a totally different story...lol.

This was eye-opening to me. Juliana is definitely one of those "addicted to the boob" babies, so I guess I should expect her to nurse frequently for quite a while. I can't say I'm disappointed.

Kolbie is only a few days older than Logan and is still nursing about every 2-3 hours all day and night. However, if we're busy doing things she'll go longer. Today between church, errands after, and lunch out for DH's birthday then falling asleep on the way home and staying asleep, she went 5 hours! But if we're just home hanging out it's almost always every 2 hours.

Ashlynn is about 3-4x a day now.
Around 11ish months I stopped "offering" except for bedtime and naptime, since she demands her milkies then. She didn't seem phased, really.. Sometimes we even skip that mid-day nursing session and she doesn't mind. Sometimes she gets VERY fussy if we skip it though.
Of course, all it takes is "Do you want milkies?" and she perks up, goes "Hm!?" and pulls my shirt down to peek at them.
Before 11 months, it was every 4-6 hours during the day and every 2-3 hours at night.

You know it's really weird.... Kate was a every 2 hour nurser right up until about 7-8 months old. 3 hours at night. Wouldn't sleep without being nursed. And then right about the time she started crawling (8-ish months) she's now only nursing before naps, so about 4-5x a day. If I think she's hungry I'll offer during the day but she just doesn't want to sit still long enough to nurse. There are times she wants to "hang out" with the boob, though. It's less nursing, more boobie kisses as she's looking around at everything (but woe is me if I try covering the boob). She's still nursing several times at night, though.

So, yeah, interesting. I never would have predicted that things would have changed with Kate, especially not so suddenly. I'm kind of sad! And I'm not discouraging the night feeds like people say I "should".... I don't want her to nurse any less than she is!

Great question....I was wondering the same thing. And, DH asked me this very question today too!

We are nursing 5-6x per day right now and I just can't see how any of the feeding are going to disappear anytime soon. I cut Emmett from the boob before naps as I didn't want him to only be able to fall asleep nursing. But, he always eats right when he wakes up. Also, because we are nursing so much, he doesn't do a lot of solids. Will the solids naturally increase as they decrease feeding? My fear is he seems rather content and I honestly would like to have him weaned by 1 to 1 1/2 or so (just personal preference.)
