Just wondering if anyone has any experience with getting a baby with a recessed lower jaw to latch on correctly. It seems like his lower lip is right under my nipple instead of covering the lower part of the areola and it is starting to hurt! Any ideas would be really helpful.

I don't have any first hand experience with that but you could try this:

Press down on his chin in order for him to open his mouth wide.
Then kinda like squish your nipple from the top and bottom so that the nipple and areola are compressed (if you know what I mean)
Then stick it in his mouth like that, kinda with your nipple pointing towards his top lip so that he gets more areola at the bottom.

This is called a breast sandwich, you might be able to find some pictuers on how to do it on the internet. Good luck

My son also has a recessed chin and I have to push down on his chin to get him to open really wide, then I take my breast and kind of baloon it out with one finger above the nipple and one below the bottom of the areola. Then I take the bottom of the areola and run it over his bottom lip to get it to flip down some - if I don't he ends up with his bottom lip stuck inside. That usually ends up with him in the correct latch. GL!
