with some positive outcomes! I actually NIP a lot, almost every time I'm in public and no one ever really acknowledges what I'm doing (well mostly), except for today. My older kids have skating lessons on Wednesday nights and while there my DD2 needed to nurse. I sat down on bench in the middle of the main entrance/viewing area just outside of the arena. I'm fairly discreet as I layer my shirts but don't use a blanket or cover (basically if you see a nip slip, you're looking too closely).
A group of preteen girls saw me, I guess. I didn't know at the time but they had asked another parent about what I was doing. The woman told these girls all about breastfeeding. She mentioned something to me about telling the girls after and was very positive about what I was doing. It made my day.

yay! BF making life so much easier and once i started being able to NIP things became even better.
It might sounds silly but i dont like taking a bottle for my kids when we go out. One because i EBF but also because i dont want anyone to think im giving them formula.

Aww thats great
I've been NIP since Nicholas was very little, maybe a month old. Once I figured out how to nurse in my moby wrap it was amazing! Now I just walk around a store holding while nursing and no one (usually) knows.

That's so nice to hear from another mom! I get nervous that someone's going to wig out at me (unfortunately even in DH's family there are plenty who think that it's weird to NIP!). I love it when a mom explains to their kiddos what breastfeeding is.

That's awesome that you had such a positive response!!! I have nursed in the store before but i always retreat to the bathroom, i'm not a fan of doing that though. I hope i can work up the nerve to nurse discretely in the open...and well if DH will allow me to ahahaah!

yea, its kinda nerve wrecking at first but after i figured out howto nurse in her carrier it was sooo much eaiser. You can totally do it.
Willow will tolerate a bottle, but she really loves her boob time.

Ahh i don't have a wrap yet but i'm gonna hafta figure out how to master that LOL
And same here, Gio will take a bottle of pumped milk if i have to give it to him but he also definitely prefers the boob. I like it better that way anyway...bottles are a hassle to me

I'v gotten great at walking and nursing though my arms get tired cause i haven't mastered moby nursing (i think my boobs are too big to moby nurse??). Its hard to move the moby and pull out a boob with it on. I use a nursing cover with the wire thing at the top so you can look in and see everything and its quite easy now that i'm comfy with it...... It would be so much easier just to dare to pop one out with no cover, lol!
Lorena, you don't need to feed in the potty!!! Just get a cover up!

LOL i've thought of getting one, i'm just unsure about how functional they are...like if it's user-friendly i guess you could say. I suppose i don't want it to be more of a hassle than its worth...though going to the bathroom trying to get a boob out and nursing standing is no picnic either

That is soooo awesome. I love when peopke are so positive about bfing. Yay!!
I am just learning how to bf, once Carson and I have that mastered Ill NIP. Its difficult to be descret right now at home (when visitors are over) because I have to use a nipple shield for now, otherwise he wont latch.

I went mall walking with my friend, who has a baby 10 days older than mine, but he is FF. Anyhow, we couldnt make it to the nursing lounge they have at the mall, so I just used my cover and kept walking, I did get some looks, but I dont really care, I will not feed her in the bathroom.
I wont eat in a bathroom, why should she? And the way I see it, if people have a problem with it, they need not look!!! lol, its nice being able to go places and NIP, then I do not feel so limited on where I can go and when I can go there.

I totally agree and it is a valid point. I don't have a cover yet, though hopefully that will change tomorrow. I'm just not comfortable enough to be all "out in the open"
