Zoe went to the Dr again today. She was up screaming for 3 hours last night. She was fed, dry, burped, swaddled...everything I could think of was done. The Dr wants her back on formula, some kind of colicky babies. He wants her to have it every other feeding. He said no dairy/spicy foods for me. She goes back next Saturday to see if things are better. But she won't take the bottle anymore, wants nothing to do with it.

why would formula help? I think you need to call your local La Leche or find a breastfeeding friendly dr. Have you tried having her sleep slightly inclined? Have you taken dairy out of your diet completely? How about the other foods you eat?

here is a great link from our local la leche!

Eating Dairy-Free?

Formula will probably make her worse. I agree with everyone else. Find an LC if you can. Maybe she has a bad latch. Does she have a tongue tie maybe? Also giving formula that often will probably mess with your supply

I'm sorry, that must be tough. I also don't really see how formula will help with that issue as it's harder to digest. Cutting out all dairy could help but it's a sneaky bugger and in lots of things you don't expect, even some deli meats. Also it can take a while to be completely out of your system so it won't be an overnight fix!

My good friend had to cut all dairy out of her diet completely while bfing her little girl. Her daughter still cannot tolerate any dairy at 1-1/2 years old. I would try that before formula.

I had a dairy free day. The Drs office is pro breastfeeding and her Dr told me I was crazy for tossing pumped milk( I wasn't freezing it @ the time for some unknown reason). Her poop is normal, the same yellow color as always and seedy....

I'm sorry, how stressful for you. I'm not really sure why the formula would help either, especially since you'd be doing half and half so then you'd have no idea what was causing problems/helping (if the dr thinks that something in your milk is causing problems then it would still be there). I would continue the dairy free diet and see if that improves things. If it does it might not be for a few days, even weeks. :/

dairy free one day is not going to make a difference. You need to cut it out for atleast 2 weeks as some of the protein (which bothers the LOs) may still stay in the bm. Did you read the link I posted? it had a lot of good advice.

hang in there! i know it is tough, it will get easier! Also, my Zoe was no longer sensitive to food in my diet as she got to around 6-9 months.

i had to cut out dairy with nadine when she was 2 months...it just started all of the sudden but it was so hard for her.

We had another issue with lots of crying the past few weeks. The dr checked for a UTI and we decided it was relux.

I hope she feels better....hang in there.
