Please bear with me as I write out how our day has gone.

Sleeping at 1145 ---Up at 305 am, fed, diaper, back to sleep 330 am.

up at 550 am, ate back to sleep at 559.

Up again at 755 fed, up again at 9 ate, laid in bed with us fed, half asleep but content for awhile.
Fussy since about 10 am, gave binkie, didn't really soothe her.

Slept in bouncy for 20 mins around 11.

Eating at 1135 am

Slept in bouncy at 1235 with vacuum running till 1250 (had turned off vacuum) she woke up

Ate again at 105 pm, again acting hungry. Sleeping at 120 pm up again at 125 pm.

ate again at 130, screaming uncontrollably and after doing everything else gave her the boob and she ate like she was starving.

sleeping again at 140 , woke up to gas pains 3 times( I think), got her back to sleep twice but the third time didn't work. She was up for good at 245. very fussy, crying.

eating again 305 , very fussy, crying prior to eating (again)

acting tired put in swing, fell asleep at 340, up at 405. fussy

fed yet again at 505, fussy after eating, fighting sleep, put in bed 6 pm, almost fully asleep, she was up again at 635.

eating again at 635, screaming bloody murder before and after eating.

got her to sleep at 710, up again 715.

screaming more, tried swing, slept for 5 mins up at 735.

tried the carrier, sleeping at 840 put her in crib after she was sleeping for 20 mins and she was up within 5 mins.

I've given her gas drops throughout the day. She doesn't seem to have as much gas as normal though.

Dad right now is holding her and bouncing with her with binkie in her mouth trying to get her to sleep. She is fussy and fighting it.

We've wrapped her, given her a binkie in almost every situation, she is being held tons, i've tried laying her down in bed when she is awake and tired, sleeping and nothing works.

I broke down tonight and just started crying with her after listening to her scream for 1/2 hour.

What are we supposed to do?

SO is saying if we should try formula?

I cut out dairy 2 days ago, also took Lina to chiro for 1st time yesterday he said her left atlas was off.

oh honey *hug* i went through this with Nadine. *hug*

How long is she nursing? How are your breast feeling? are you still really engorged?

It looks like you feed, change and lay back down within about 20-30mins. Same with my babies and that is because i have a very fast let down.

When the babies were first born i was engorged a lot until my body regulated its self after about 2.5 months. Nadine would eat within about 5 mins sometimes. I think she was getting a lot to fast and not getting enough fatty milk. She would have gas and greenish poos. NOTHING helped. Gas drops helped some and so did a product called Colic Calm. I tried everything including BioGaga....we spent a lot of money.

We got through it with colic calm, and gas drops. ALWAY ALWAY burp. She still becomes very colicy if she doesnt burp.

If you do think you are having a fast let down or to much milk, try block feeding. This is were she feeds from one breast only and then the next breast the next feeding.

Do not stop breast feeding. You will get through this. Sometimes i cried right along with Nadine. Just hold her and love her through it. I promise that it will get better. Do not let this stop you. Soon, brestfeeding will be easy.

It can take up to 3 weeks for dairy to clear your system and up to 3 weeks to clear your baby's system. Most formulas are dairy based so giving formula wont help. If i were you i would just keep breastfeeding and eliminate all dairy and maybe even soy.

I do have a very fast let down, I let some of it spray into a burp cloth, she gets mad but I'm trying to give her more hind milk. I only let her eat off one boob in one sitting because of this. If she wants more within 2 hours I offer the same boob. I'm not really engorged anymore either.

I gave her some colic calm a little while ago, and gas drops, she sleeps for a min in my arms and then wakes up crying. Have her in bed now, I put her down asleep with binkie and she is awake but calm.. I just don't know. Is this because of a growth spurt? My dd1 was like this and I ebf her for a year. DD1 was so colicky and I was praying this wasn't going to happen again. I do burp her, she usuassly burps about 2 or 3 times after a feeding. I thought this was good.

nursing can take 5mins, or as long as 20. Really depends on her I guess.

it could be a growth spurt since she is almost 8 weeks.

It really sounds like you are doing everything right. If you are pumping you should stop for awhile. I wasnt able to pump until the twins started skipping a night feeding. I started pumping in place of that so my milk supply didnt change. If i pump more, then i spray when im BF. I pump to freeze and donate.

It took Nadine awhile but she is able to handle my flow better then Ari, which is the bigger baby. Nadine still burps a lot also. I dont burp her agains my chest, i kind of make her bend at the waist and burp her. I get big, man like burps that way.

Cutting milk out, like you are doing might help. It did with Nadine. I was still able to have cheese but nothing else. Now, at 4 months, i can have a glass of milk.

I hope some of the other ladies here can offer you some other advice. When i went through this i just rode it out and it got better at 2.5 months. It was just like one day the sky opened and the sun started shinning.

well, not sure why formula would help??????? it would probably make it worse if anything.

I would continue with the no dairy for at least 2 weeks. why do you think it is the breastmilk? was your other colicky baby breastfed as well? the frequency of eating sounds normal for that age and could be a growth spurt as well. have you done any baby wearing? that can make life a lot easier and you can also nurse in some carriers/wraps.

Is this what most days are like for you or was it just yesterday?

I've had 2 babies who went through a very fussy stage. My now 5 month old DD was pushing "colicky" for a while, with the amount that she would cry so I did a lot of research and reading on colic. There really isn't much information on what causes it, for many babies, it's a mystery. Like Meredith said, formula would likely make it worse, bottles cause babies to take in more air (and cause more gas) and if she has problems with dairy, formula is going to be harder on her system (and will be in general because it digests slower and can cause constipation).

I would keep doing what you are, and remember that this too shall pass. :hugs:

Thanks ladies for the advice.

Yesterday was the worst day of my life in a really long time. I could not get Lina to sleep till 330 am. She was finally out and slept until 630. Woke up fed her, changed her and back in pnp. She wouldn't fall asleep in pnp so I put her in bed with us and she fell asleep. Woke up again around 11 am, fed again and she is still sleeping in our bed. With a poopy diaper at that but I dare not wake her. She pooped when she finished eating but she was so out of it that I let her sleep.

Oh she just woke up, at almost noon.

She cried and fussed for so many hours yesterday that I thought I was going to go insane. I pray that today is much better. I was seriously considering pumping and trying to give her bottles instead but if you ladies say that the bottles make the gas worse then I won't do that.

Oh and to answer the question about how often this happens. Lina is pretty fussy during the day, always fighting sleep, gassy and generally not a happy baby. Yesterday was the worst out of all of her days.
Normally at night I can get her to sleep between 11 and 12 and she will be out for a 3 to 4 hours. Not last night.

yeah, bottles will most likely make her gasey, because of the swallowing of air with it. have you tried burping more during a feeding? it could also be a growth spurt as well. Have you tried baby wearing?

Yes I do baby wear, I'm wearing her now.

My let down is so fast that at times she eats in 5 mins or so. When I pull boob away to let some of it spray in a cloth she gets really mad. I try not to tick her off to much because it takes a lot to calm her down.

I can totally relate. I'm going through this almost exactly right now. My baby sleeps more and is happy when I'm not trying to feed her, but everything else. The spraying, the screaming during feedings, the burping. I'm going to talk to an LC tomorrow, but something that helps me, actually, is pumping once in the morning. Our pattern is: she wakes for good around 9 or so. I'll feed her as much as she'll take, back and forth over and over again, and then when she's drowsy I'll pump. I've noticed she's a happier eater if I pump once. It doesnt spray as bad and I think she gets more hindmilk which is easier on her tummy. I always have been able to feed her after pumping, too, so I never worry if she wants to nurse right away.

It sounds like your LO might be going through a growth spurt. Even though she's done in 5 minutes, maybe try just taking a rest but with your boob still accessible. I think with mine, she gets kinda winded from drinking so fast so she'll pull off, but she's not really done. I keep feeding her until she's asleep or she's really relaxed.

I hope you can figure this out! I'll keep checking because I need help too!!
