I'm new here, but not to JM. I was referred here from the mommy weight loss board. My daughter, after lots of tears and frustration and patience is finally breastfeeding exclusively, as of 3 weeks old and she is 3 months now. She even prefers me over the bottle! Boy am I glad she made the switch! I have some questions though if that's ok..

I'm having some real issues with weightloss and BFing. I don't feel like I can lose weight without my milk supply taking a major dip. Now I find myself gaining :/. My milk supply is ok right now. Protein and fiber really help my supply, so I eat oatmeal every day. What are some foods that I can eat that will help keep my supply up and still allow me to lose weight? A normal weightloss amount for me is 2-3 pounds a week. I naturally lose weight quickly just from walking every other day and not snacking as much. I had to slow down my weight loss as I noticed my supply was drying up.

I gained back 10 pounds I lost, but saved my milk from drying up completely. Something's gotta change. Is there a way I can do both?

do you track your calories? what is your typical diet like? have you looked into Weight Watchers for bfing moms?

Do you drink enough water? I find that even if I'm eating enough, if I don't drink at least a liter a day, my supply dips a little... I have heard that weightloss while bf is different for every mom...
