My LO is almost 11 weeks old and breastfeeding has been going great! She is gaining so well, she's a little chunker! However, she is also a pretty cranky baby. I am fairly certain that she is gassy like all the time. In the last week, when she passes gas, it actually stinks like an adults would!
I can not for the life of me figure out what I can possibly be eating that is upsetting her so much. I have tried cutting out dairy, and I don't really consume very much as it is. There has been no change. Are there any other foods that could be the culprit?
It really stinks because this is going so well but I feel like it's also making her unhappy! I tried gas drops (Target brand) last week and that seemed to have no effect at all. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

My baby is/was like that too, but she also had reflux. It seems to have gotten better recently, but my pedi recommended gripe water instead of the gas drops. She said anything with ginger/fennel/chamomile in it was great. I actually found a nautral one at walgreens that has all of the above, and it seems to help her. Although she still has a ton of adult smelling gas, it doesn't seem to upset her anymore. Hope that helps!

In my studies and based on usage, the gas drops only help a bit if it's in the tummy, not in the bowels. My son was exactly the same way and I had no idea what caused it. The only thing that relieved it some was the gripe water. You can also look at kellymom for some info on the foods that you eat, etc.

I was going to recommend gripe water as well! I've never had much luck with gas drops. I also had a nurse tell me that if I eat a lot of leafy greens & raw veggies, it can sometimes cause babies gas.

Good luck!
