So I think we are finally done at just over 13 months. It's been 3 days and my bbs are not engorged anymore.

Thank you all for the wonderful support. I would not have made it without you, especially in the beginning!

For all of you new mommies - good luck and keep at it - the first few weeks are the hardest.

Hope to be back here soon with #2.

i do not know if you are asking me or her? for us, DD could nurse for 5 mins a day total or for hours a day, but most days it was just 1 nursing session, maybe two. Mostly in the mornings. I went away and came home and told her that they were broken and put bandaids on it For a younger child, like a year old, I would just cut out nursing sessions one by one, replacing it with a sippy of milk or something else.

if you do it gradually by cutting one session out at a time, it should be ok. i have felt full but not too badly.

Congrats on this new milestone, mama! It is so bittersweet. I find I still have moments where I really wish I could just nurse her to put her to sleep or fix a big owwie. (We weaned 4 months ago!) I'm sorry DS was upset by it. Time will go by and he'll forget.... it's us mommies who feel guilty and conflicted for a long time.

I did cut one nursing session out every two weeks. It was easier because DS guzzles cow's milk like there's no tomorrow, so I wasn't worried about him getting enough. Also he is in daycare during the day, so that's not really an issue. I was down to just nursing him to sleep for the past 2 weeks. He was upset for the first couple of nights but now is better.

My bbs are a little tender still. I was surprised that they were engorged the first 2 days - I didn't think he was really getting that much because he was not nursing very long at night. I was afraid I was going to get a clogged duct so I expressed some milk in the shower on the second morning. I haven't had to do that again, so I think it's going to be ok now, but they still feel a little weird.
