My poor baby is sooooo constipated. I feel really really bad for her. She hasn't pooped in a week now and strains and cries.

I have tried giving her prune/apple juice in a sippy cup, and in a regular cup, but she doesn't do well with it, and after an entire afternoon of trying off and on yesterday she had only taken in about .25 oz, most of which ended up on her clothes.

I have been doing tummy massage, warm baths, bicycling her legs, feeding pears and pureed prunes- but they are not helping. (she doesn't really eat much and prefers to be breastfed, unless it is bananna, which is how she got constipated int he first place)

This AM I inserted half a suppository, and she finally pooped a little bit of hard poop within less than 2 minutes of insertion, and it came out with it. I know there is a lot more in there!

So, my question- what would you guys think of putting the prunce juice in a SNS? I am worried that she won't like the taste of it and it might turn her off breastfeeding. She doesn't seem to like the taste of it in the cup and tries to push it away. But I am at my last resort now and not sure what to do!

I'd be scared she might think of bf when eating the juice and might not like it. Maybe confusion from the two.

Have you tried taking a rectal temp? My pedi suggested that to get movement and help break up stool.

Try foot massage too, up where the toes meet the ball of the foot. Or fill the tub with warm water up to her chest level and do tummy massage - always clockwise.

Re the SNS, I'd probably be more apt to try helping her with the sippy cup first. Or spoon-feeding her some prune juice or prunes.

no i would not. also, i would look at what solids you are feeding her. bananas are super constipating and i did not give DD any until she was well over a year old in fear of constipating her I made a prune jello with a seaweed thickener because we do not eat gelatin, but you can try gelatin and make a jello out of it. i would just try another suppository and look at her diet.
