I had traffic court today at 2pm ugh, so I had no babysitter. I tried to keep Nicholas quiet but he was a wild man (and of course they called me LAST). So I started to nurse him. I was in the back row in the corner of the room. The clerk was starring me down with an evil look, turned and talked to the lady next to her and was pointing at me. I smiled. She turned away. HOW RUDE!!

So I popped him off and let him continue to babble and carry on. (not crying, just baby talk you know and getting loud, laughing at nothing). See what happens when you dont want a mama to nurse!!

Made me embarrassed though. Even though I've been doing this for 10 months...

I would have loved to hear what she said. That's an absurd thing for an officer of the court to do!!!

I hate nursing in public because there are always people around to make you feel weird about it.... I do it, though, because if we don't, how will things ever change? I'm so sorry that happened to you.

this makes me worried about bfing on an airplane. Next month Ellie and I are going on a trip.

That lady is obviously not a mother!

I've been nursing him in public since he was born and have never had a problem before. Occasional looks and stuff but that was the first time I really felt uncomfortable. Sad in this day and age.

I'm always super afraid that someone is going to say something to me! I mean, I have a nursing cover that completely covers everything but people still look at me weird! I've started to just nurse her in the car if I'm out and about and she gets hungry! (not to mention she is starting to hate being covered!)

My 4 month old hates being covered! She will not eat well or latch for long periods if covered. I nurse in my car when it's convenient to do so because I keep a boppy in there and it's easier on my back. But if I'm in a restaurant or shopping area and she gets hungry, I just do what I gotta do! I'm so stressed lately that I'll probably explode on the first idiot who makes a crappy comment to me about it. The first person to suggest to me that I nurse in the bathroom may just get their head dunked in the toilet!

Don't be worried about bfing on the plane. I rarely nursed in public, but I did nurse my boys when we flew. It was fine, and one time I was in the middle seat with DH next to me and a younger guy by the window but I was still able to do it discreetly.

I think all the other passengers were just really happy that my baby was sleeping and not screaming, no matter how we did it!

I feel you now!

I've gotta go to traffic court for my son bc he is supposed to appear when he's taking his final exams in high school. He can't miss exams.
I call the court to find out if there's a way for me to be seen first since all I need to do is show that he had insurance. (his card was expired)
And I explained I have an infant and breastfeeding and it's going to be hard to sit there for 2 hours waiting!
She tells me that they really don't likes kids coming to court. I said well there's nobody else to come for my son and I can't leave my baby since she won't take a bottle so I'm coming with her. Then she says there's a bathroom if I need to feed her or that I can feed her before I come in.
***?! So I tell her that unless the other officers of court eat their meals in the bathroom, I wouldnt be feeding my baby there. She says well I'd have to deal with that w the bailiff bc she doesn't know the laws.

First off. Obviously she doesn't know the law. Very apparent!

Second off, the court house in our city is completely disgusting. I feel the need to shower after only walking in and out of there! No way I'd feed my baby in that bathroom!!!
So basically she says get there early so I can be first in line and to let the bailiff know my "special needs". This should be fun...

One would think, by now, that people would know BFing moms can nurse wherever people are allowed to be, simply from all the news coverage. These people must be ostriches in disguise who hide their heads as soon as they're off work.

What's really crappy is that this place I have to go to also houses all the hard core criminals and the nastiest people of our city. Gross. Not who I'd like to have to nurse in front of!
