My son is 3 weeks old and we are still nursing. I have wanted to throw in the towel a couple times because his latch sucks but I keep pushing forward. We use a shield most times because I can't stand my nipples feeling like they got in a fight with a cheese grater. I've done everything te LC has suggested but rarely does he latch well. He constantly tucks his lower lip and he seems to slide down the nipple as he nurses. But I keep trying to correct his latch and continue to pray it gets better.
For now I'm just happy we made it this far :-)

congrats! and if you have to use a shield, so be it, that is why there are nipple shields. I know my DD was very small when she was born and had an awful latch due to her small size, but it did self correct.
