I am certain that when I told baby "no!" when she bit while latching, it frightened her (she actually cried). Now she won't nurse! It's been at least a full day. Whenever I try to nurse, she automatically starts crying. What am I going to do? I've read all the info on Kellymom and LLL and I guess it takes patience, but I'm heartbroken that this could be the end.
I tried bathing with her and lying down with her-nothing yet. I've done lots of skin time today, too. I'm still pumping lots - and giving her the bottle that she would never take from me before.
I really don't want to give in yet-I wanted to wean her gradually and lovingly-not like this.
Yesterday, every time I would put her to breast, she would bite. I think she was perhaps trying the waters to see how I would react. It was painful, but I didn't want to jeopardize her trusting me again. Anyway... She tried to bite again today, so I just set her down and stopped.
This whole thing has proven to me that I do not want to wean just yet. I love our BFing relationship, and it truly makes her a happy baby.
Glad to see things worked out! My little guy has started to nibble on me a couple times too and got scared and cried when i said no no (even when he bit my shoulder lol) but hey it's a learning process i guess.
