Hi Ladies

Figured I'd hop over here and ask for some advice. I recently found out that I am 6-10weeks pregnant, and I am still nursing my daughter(why I don't know how far along I am). She is currently 8 months and my goal has been to bf til she self weans. I know that I am at risk for supply issues while pregnant so looking for tips on keeping supply up, and just some words of advise. I plan on tandem nursing once baby 2 arrives

every woman is different. One of my friends was able to nurse until about 4-5 months when her supply really dipped, but i know others who nursed through the whole pregnancy with no issues. KUP!

SO AMAZIN...GOOD FOR YOU! If I ever got pregnant now, while I'm still nursing my 15 month old, I would want to do the same and would actually be upset if my dd weaned. I'm curious to hear what everyone has to say. I have heard of lots of natural herbs/supplements to take .....you can google them. I know staying hydrated is another and also offerring the breast to ensure that your supply is being demanded. I have heard of plenty of women being successful at this....I'm sure you will too!!!! CONGRATS BTW....was this a surprise baby? Were you using any contraception, if you don't mind me asking? Just asking because we are not...just the withdrawal method...

Anytime I encountered an issue prior I used fenugreek, which has an awesome bonus of making you smell like maple syrup, but I hear mixed things so will use that as a last choice.

Thats my concern, seems that most times I've heard about issues its at the 5 month or so mark. I'll just have to keep an eye on everything. I'd really love to avoid formula for her.

We were using the ******* method. I did try the mini pill after my daughter but I found it resulted in a lowered milk supply so we discontinued that and went with condoms. As in my partner was in charge of condoms. LOL. So most times he put it on near orgasm... or had to pull... or had an oops... LOL

I nursed through a pregnancy but never tried any supplements. My supply dropped to almost nil at some point, maybe after 14 weeks. My daughter didnt really mind though. There were few days when she would have skipped nursing alltogether so I offered and she was always ready and wanting. I've been tandem nursing for 15 months now. These days I have to hide away from the "baby" if I want to nurse the big one because she'll want to nurse even if she just plopped off.

I read somewhere that if you eat enough calories for 3 that it'll keep your supply up. I dont know if there is anything behind that, I never tried that.

Congratulations on the baby! I'd be careful with the supplements - there is one that is dangerous during pregnancy, but I can't recall which one it is. I'd say just nursing as much as feasible, resting up (I know - impossible with an 8 month old! My DD is the same age). But just double check on the safety of the supplements.

Keep us posted! All the best
