Will feedings always be about this long or will LO eventually learn how to feed quicker? I know newborns feed more often then older babies so it feels like that's all I'm doing, but seriously that's all I'm doing. He eats for about 20-30 min at a time, wets his diaper and then wants to feed again. He's eating more like every hour instead of every 2-3 unless he falls asleep.

Has anyone listened to your baby swallowing while nursing with a stethoscope?

No, what would they be listening for? He's definitely eating well, gaining weight like mad. At his 4 day appointment he had nearly gained all his birth weight back.

They would be listening for the suck to swallow ration, after letdown, it should be alot of 1:1 and some 2:1. Sometimes babies, even if they transfer milk and gain weight well have a higher suck to swallow ration which indicates oral problems.

A LC should always listen to swallowing with a stethoscope.

He will get to where he goes longer between. My son is 3 months and he still is kinda a slow eater but goes 2-3 hours between feedings. He'll eat about 15 minutes on each side. Your son is still very new and is establishing your supply which means lots of eating. cluster feeding is tough but just keep letting him eat whenever he wants and eventually a routine will come. You're doing great!
