Hi there. My name is Danielle and this is my first time ever posting on the breastfeeding board.

About 2 weeks ago my 14 month old fully weaned. We did it gradually so when she stopped we were only down to 1 feeding at night, and it was barely even a feed, she would just suck for a little bit and fall back asleep.

Well... a few days ago my breasts were a little tender. I assumed it was PMS related. Starting yesterday it was then ONLY my right breast that was really sore and tender and carried into today. I tried lots of different things, and eventually just pumped a little bit for some relief and that seemed to do the trick, so I'm assuming it was just "engorgement", if you will.

I'm due for my period this week and so I was just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone? Why was everything fine for almost two weeks before it felt sore/tender? Hormones? Impending AF?? Just curious what might have caused it... I had assumed I was dried up!

I thought mastitis but it didn't burn/sting, no redness, no fever, no flu symptoms. Could have been a clogged duct but if it was it sure didn't Take much to get it out when I pumped. It didn't feel like a clogged duct usually does for me tho, which could have just meant that it was in a different location.

I wouldn't have thought AF causing it since AF usually causes supply to lower not increase. My bet is just a clogged duct that you caught early.

My guess is a smallish clogged duct. You're probably at the point where you were producing just enough that dropping that feeding led to a clog, but not so much that it got severe, and it was probably easily cleared.
