Ladies,

I'm about 33 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I've been doing a lot of research on BFing and hope that it will work for me and baby. My questions are specific to Raynaud's suffers.

I have Raynaud's in my fingers and toes. I've read that women can suffer from it at the nipple as well. If I have it in my fingers then am I garunteed to have it during nursing too? I've read it can be quite painful. Does anyone have any experience with it? Do you think a LC would be familiar with this?

Thank you all in advance for any input.

I have had Raynauds in my hands and feet for almost 20 years and had no issues with nursing and did not have it in the nipple. I am an acupuncturist and had a pregnant patient who already had it in her nipples (none in her hands adn feet) and the acupuncture helped tremendously and she got no issues once the baby came.

I have no experience, but I would think that an IBCLC would know about it! Good luck!

Thank you both for your input. Once I have the baby I will be sure to come back here and update with my experience.

You may be more likely to experience Reynaud's in the nipple because you have it in other extremities but it doesn't mean that you will automatically. It's just a wait until it's here kind of thing. If you do experience it, you can do things to lessen the pain and make yourself more comfortable.

I haven't experienced it but I hope your LC was able to help you with it. Good luck and congratulations! Hope all is well with you and your baby.
