Hello! My name is kaelyn and i gave birth to twin girls in December..I breastfed and pumped up til 6 weeks and it got to the ppint where it was too hard to do either..now they are 12 weeks old and this whole time I've been heart broken over giving up..I was wondering if any of you heard of re lactating or if anyone has done it? Thanks!

I know there were a few moms in my la leche who were successful, i think it really just depends on the baby. I would say, see if you can find some hands on help, maybe a lactation consultant from the hospital you were at, or a local La Leche group or another breastfeeding group.

It can definitely be done! You need to be dedicated and persistent though. This article has some great information and resources regarding relactation:http://kellymom.com/bf/got-milk/relactation/Good luck!

*lurking*

I did this!!

I got deathly ill and ended up in the ICU when #2 was only 6 weeks old. By the time I go out and was healthy enough to nurse, he was 100% FF and I had no supply! I won't lie, it was hard work! But first you have to believe you CAN do it! That was the hardest part especially when things get hard!
i agree with the other ladies- get an LC and get in contact with LLL! it can be done!!

Thank you ladies!! I am hoping both made it

It took about 6 weeks but it was like a full time job and I will admit he did get a bit constipated for a couple days. It was nerve wracking (I worried about him not getting enough) but in the end worth it! I think I was on every BFing herb out there, drank a ton and ate tons of oatmeal. We also used the SNS which is a PITA but worth it. I was never so happy to toss it anything as I was when we got rid of it LOL!

Lucy..did you gradually gain your supply back or did it just suddenly start at 6 weeks?

Very gradual!! But I was also only nursing one so i assume the process would take longer with two!

LOL! I totally respect twin mamas
If we do get blessed with twins, I pretty much plan on not leaving the house for a year and going into full survival mode for at least a year LOL! Prepare for the worst and hope for the best! LOL!
I will also suck as much advice from mamas like you!

Thanks for the info And one piece of advice I definitely have to give is have people lined up to help everyday for atleast the first two months! I wish I had done that bc I needed it bad..my hubby only stayed home for a week and my mother in law talked like she was taking weeks off to help me but she never did thank God for my mom n my aunt or I would of been in the crazy house lol but seriously line em up! Twins are awesome tho their so darn cute n its fun having such different lil babies
