thank you for posting this! I'm going to try to do this if I can - the only time I'll have anyone to care for DD is when my sister is up, immediately after birth - probably the best time to try!

i've read this before and never did it, now my supply is about zilch and this is sort of my last hope. I work starting tomorrow through the weekend, but am going to start sunday night through wednesday afternoon. after that I have to leave town, with baby though so I will still be able to feed on demand.
I really hope this works.

This really does work. I started to see an increase in my milk supply fast. The only thing different I did was use Breastea (it works way better for me at increasing my milk supply) instead of Mother's Milk tea. I also used nursing shirts (no bra). The only thing you want to focus on is breastfeeding.

It says nurse, nurse, nurse, but is that pretty much the same as feeding on demand? I let my little one nurse any time he did the whole rooting thing for about two days and the only thing it did was screw up my production.
When I left the hospital 10 days after he was born, I was getting 2oz out of each side and I was nice and full after 3 hours. After the feeding on demand I can barely get 2 oz out of the good side and now only can get 1oz out of the bad side. Not only that but now it can take up to 5 hours for me to be full. So all this means my baby is annoyed because he's not getting as much as he wants. He was born at 9lbs 6oz so was already eating a good 1oz from the get go and I had to supplement but after my milk came in, he was good and was sleeping nicely after each feeding.
Now, in order to get him to be content, I have to supplement with up to 3 oz of formula thanks to the whole feeding on demand thing.

after your initial engorgement when you milk first comes in, your breast are not going to feel full. this is different than feeding on demand, this is laying in bed, skin to skin, 24/7 for three days and nursing pretty much round the clock.

So it's just pretty much keeping him on the boob the entire time? Just using his reflex to nurse in order to keep him there even though there's not much coming out?

yes. the more he nurses, even if there is no milk, the more milk your body will make, but it needs to be done over a few days to really make a difference in your supply. also in the pumping forum there is info on power pumping, this is where you pump on and off for an hour a day to simulate cluster feeding, though it can take a week or two with that to see any change.

This really is the best way to get your milk supply up. I used Breastea as well and just drank a glass every few hours.
