I've spent all kinds of time thinking about how my children won't be at our wedding. I've thought about the close friends that have passed away and won't be there. Never once did it occur to me about my brother. Donald Nicholas passed away when he was only two days old. (I was two.) Therefore, we never got the chance to bond. Maybe that's why I hadn't thought about him. Now, though, with his birthday and anniversary at the end of this month, it's hit me full force and I can't stop crying. He is my only biological brother. (The rest are step.) I really wish he could be here for my wedding day.

I can't begin to imagine how you must feel to have never been able to know him, honey. That's so very sad It's no wonder you must be feeling so low that he cannot be there for your big day. May I ask what happened after he was born, Augie? x x

I'm thinking of you x x

He was very premature. Our mom's water broke at 6 months and the ER told her she had just peed herself and to go home. She knew better, but trusted the doctors. It was another week before he actually kicked her into labor. By this point, he had been in the womb for a week without the protection given by the amniotic fluid. Infection set in. His lungs were underdeveloped and just weren't up for the fight.

Oh honey, that's awful I'm so sorry you lost your brother in such a tragic and avoidable way. Did the ER ever answer to their mistake? I just get so angry by the mistakes some hospitals make x

Not that I know of. I know Mom didn't sue (though I think she should have.)
