Do you have any symbols/charms on the outside of your home? I see a lot of stars on people's houses, and I wonder if some of them do it for traditional reasons for protection and whatnot, or if they just think it looks nice. LoL. But I'm thinking about making some as soon as the weather turns nice. Do you have any favorites? I need some ideas.

I can't really speak for outside of houses, given my living situation, but I have a Japanese demon charm that I keep on my door handle to ward of spirits and bad energy. I got it from one of my high school friend's dad who frequently visited Japan because of his work. I also keep a white fox pelt in the same area.

But, aside from those things, I don't really own anything else. I'm kind of unfamiliar in the realm of charms.

I don't have anything right now, but we will be making the yard more us this spring and I might invest in some charm type items. And a gnome.... I really want a gnome

I have a faerie orb that hangs in my sliding glass window. I have faerie cakes around my house too. Anne can tell you that I have faeries in my house too!

I don't have anything specific for charms, but I do have a star that I want to hang, but I bought it because I liked it, not for any charm value.

Thanks, ladies! I can't do with having any gnomes...I have strange phobias. But I LOVE faeries (decoration-wise; I unfortunately don't know a lot about them), and I've been seriously thinking about them and wondering about how I feel concerning their existence. Tiff, maybe you could inform me a bit more?

I'm kind of in the exploring stage of Faeries but I'd be happy to discuss faeries with you Krissy!

I know for us, we have the faerie orb and since we have had it, along with the faerie cake offerings I got, we have had numerous different colored lights at night that come flitting through the house. During the day and when DH isn't here, there's things that go missing and appear other places. There's other weird things that come up missing, moved, or there's just stuff like what happened in Anne's house (over on GS in the encounters thread, she posted about it) that happen here. Faeries are mischievous. There are certain things that I do to keep them happy in my house. One of the things that I do is leave the faerie cakes (I can get the link to them if you're interested) and I have pretty shiny things around the house. They also seem to like the birds that I got from my Grandma when she died. She loved blue jays and cardinals so the birds are pretty, bright, and up high so they can be shown off. Hope my rambling makes sense.

To be honest, I think I'd be totally spooked about having things inexplicably moved around the house! Too haunting-like, kwim? I have a lot of phobias about house hauntings because of how I was raised (my mom was strictly Christian and taught us a bunch of scary things about demons), so I'm not sure I would be comfortable inviting anything into my home. That's really cool that you've seen those lights, though! What happens to the fairy cakes? Do you just leave them out? Or do they get misplaced? (Or eaten? lol)

I leave them out and they sometimes disappear but not usually. They're just there as an offering.
