In the Infants at Daniel's school they have an annual pumpkin competition and I have spent most of today sorting out Daniel's pumpkin.
He wanted a space-themed one since space is his current obsession. So I have carved the word SPACE into the front, he has painted it black (though the paint keeps peeling off, even though I mixed it with some glue and rubbed the pumpkin all over first), with some silver glitter on the lid for stars, I have made skewer holes in it in which we're going to stick some fruit lollipops to be planets, and he has coloured in a rocket picture which we're going to PVA to the back. He has some small rocket, black hole, alien and star stickers and will also dot a few of those around if they'll stick.
I'll post pictures when it's done. Please wish him luck!!
Being very green and Pagan and not wishing to waste anything, we gave the seeds to the birds and made pumpkin and parsnip soup with the fleshy bits.
And I have all this to do over again next weekend to make one myself for Hallowe'en (will probably use the seeds for a spell I did a couple of years ago which worked really well instead of the birds next time) - any good ideas as I don't like to do just a regular face but something more creative? I'm thinking another word one so it'll sort of match Daniel's on the windowsill. Perhaps PEACE.
Pics! Sadly you can't see the word "space" all together in one frame.
