This last couple of weeks have been so full of good! I was accepted to school, I've been awarded my financial aid and I've decided my classes for the next 2 semesters (I'm double majoring in Psychology and Communication Arts - Broadcast Media specialization).
I started seeing a new doctor that actually works with me! Saw him last week and we talked briefly about bariatric surgery. My last doctor was dead set against it and I've been trying to get it done for about 10 years now but constantly hit roadblocks. This doctor decided to run some bloodwork and see what my health was like. Well, of course everything is perfect. I'm a healthy fat person. BUT my blood glucose was 2 points higher than it should. It should be noted here that I take a psych drug that raises your blood sugar AND I wasn't fasting when I had the blood drawn. So I'm not *actually* pre-diabetic. Doc, however, said otherwise and decided I needed to lose wight. I told him that I'd been researching bariatric surgery for about 10 years. He said, "Ok. 6 months of a 1500 calorie diet, a daily weight loss drug and then we'll see if you still qualify."
I only eat about 1500 calories a day anyway so I don't expect a lot of weight loss but I'm going to do it anyway as it's an insurance requirement for the surgery. I took my first pill today and OH MY GODS! I'm wired to the teeth. I'm bipolar and I feel like I'm having a crazy manic episode. It's AWESOME. I feel like I can actually accomplish things and have energy to take care of stuff.
PLUS I got scheduled for my Essure procedure so there will be no more surprise little ones in my future! Go for that May 7th.
I'm going to try to go all the way to Ph.D. with the Psych and just stick with the BA in Communication Arts but the final goal is to be a sex therapist. The Broadcast Media degree is simply because I like DJing and would like to see if I can turn that into a career. (I used to DJ for an internet radio station.)
