I had paragard placed at 6weeks pp last May and ended up with a uterine infection so had it removed in December. The NP I saw gave me some mini pills then but dh and I decided we would see how my body would react w/o hormones (reason we got the paragard) after no af for 2mo I got af, then 1.5mo later had a m/c, after the m/c bleeding ended I had 1.5week break and started bleeding again for 2 weeks and since then I've spotted (now on cd 24 or 25 and had some sort of bleeding the entire time). So I decided to start taking the mini pill.
I was told that after 2 weeks or so my af's would stop and that the pill was "working" if I had no bleeding at all (these are the 28 or 30 day pills, no sugar pills in my packs, they all have hormones in them). Now last night I was talking w/ someone and they said they had the 28day pills that they took every day w/ no sugar pills either and this person had spotting with hers and her doc said that was supposed to happen. So now I'm confused. Is there more they 1 type of mini pill? i was under the impression there wasnt.
I believe there are different brands but for the most part they are the same. I was just on them, mine were called Nor QD or Nora-B. I still got my period every month though. The only time I didn't was last month and thats because i got pregnant, while taking them. They worked for me since I had my son 7 months ago but i don't know what went wrong cause now I am 5 weeks pregnant with my fourth.
I'm going in to my second month on the mini pill micronor. I was a bit confused at first, as I was not aware that I needed to take them continuously without a break! It wasn't until I was getting in to the last week of pills that I realized that fact.
I have gotten my period this month. It actually came a few days earlier than when I am off the pill. It's probably different for every woman, but for me so far, I guess I'm pretty textbook. I get my period during the last week of pills.
You might want to speak to your doctor to make sure all is ok!
Thank-you Bokkechick for the beautiful siggy!
