I am switching from Yasmin to Yaz on Tuesday. Has anybody here every switched birth control pills?. Can anybody tell me what to expect by doing this switch?. I noticed that Yasmin has 30mcg of estrogen and Yaz only has 20mcg of estrogen. I am mostly wondering if lowering the dose of estrogen will cause me to have to get used to this new pill all over again....like I had to do with Yasmin when I first started.....especially the breakthrough bleeding. Will I most likely have breakthrough bleeding all over again?. I talked to the nurse who called in the prescription for me on Friday and she said I shouldn't have any issues with the switch and I shouldn't have any breakthrough bleeding....but I am just wondering if anybody can tell me from experience, what I can expect.
Sorry, there's no way to predict how your body will respond to the change in hormone dosage. Just like there's no way to predict who will experience side effects and who won't, or when they'll kick in.
I switched from Yasmin to Yaz about a year ago. I had been on Yasmin for about 3 years, then switched to Yaz. They supposedly have the same hormones, but Yaz has less "blank" pills than Yasmin. I didn't have any problems at all switching. Nothing seemed different. It does seem, to me at least, that the side effects of Yaz are getting stronger over time. I have gained a lot of weight, and I have recently had irregular periods that I never had before. I also have been fighting off all these crazy hormone emotions.. => I am actually contemplating going off of it all together for a while to see if I can get my system straightened up. But as far as initial switching, I had no problems.
