The implant has just come out over here in New Zealand (slack, I know!) - and as a nation we sold out of 12 months supply in THREE weeks so obviously it's popular here, but I was wondering how popular it is elsewhere

I don't have one, but that's what I'm planning on using for contraception if we have another failed pregnancy.

i have it! i've been using implanon since july 2008 and it's great. haven't had a period since then but last night i started cramping with nausea and this morning some spotting. not sure what that's about--waiting on the dr to call back.

but from july 08 until now has been wonderful! it's like all the great things of not worrying about pregnancy without having to take anything. i think you'd like it.

I just got it on Tuesday. Can't say I like it yet since I've only had it a few days. So far I love it. I'm just waiting to see if i bleed like some people do. I didn't know anyone who has it but I didn't want to use anything else.

I had a question about the implant and saw this thread so I'll just ask it here. I'm already looking for some type of birth control for after this baby is born. I am pretty certain that we will want another child later on, but not for a little while. Now with the implant I saw that it lasts for three years, I was just wondering if you could have it removed before the three years was up if we decided we wanted to TTC again that soon? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can remove it before the 3 year mark. My OB said that I should become fertile as soon as I have it removed.
