Is the mini pill still effective if you are no longer breastfeeding? I only breastfeed of the night now. my doctor perscribed me the mini pill after my baby was born and I never started them because i was afraid that it would effect my milk supply and I was not having a period because of breastfeeding so I didnt feel the need to take them but I started having periods again in october and I have had one also this month so now I feel like maybe I need to go ahead and start taking them even though we use condoms BUT I have heard that they are not effective anymore if you are not breastfeeding anymore due to the fact that the dont have estrogen in them. thanks in advanced for your help and advice
From what I have read about the Mini Pill is that it relies heavily on changes in cervical mucus and the lining of your uterus, because it only suppresses ovulation like 50% of the time. They are not as effective as the combination BCP if you are not BFing anymore.
