I have been having trouble with my IUD the whole time I've had it and that's been 16-18 moths now. Finally after all the pain, rashes, leg pain, pelvic pain and extra bleeding I finally broke down and saw a doctor. Which led to me having to find a doctor since mine moved out of town. I finally found one and turns out my IUD is upside down and embedded to the point that the doctor said she was surprised that I didn't have toxic shock syndrome from it. And she says it may not be possible to remove it normally and that it wasn't placed right to begin with and that my former doctor should have had me do a follow up and a u/s before and during placement which she didn't. I'm nervous about the outcome but I won't know much til after my blood work results come back tomorrow and it turns out I'm actually allergic to the hormone in the IUD and never should have been allowed to have it placed. I'm scared, hurt and angry at this point. I know I don't want another child yet but I would like to have another child in 2 years when our little girl is 4 but if this messes up I could lose fertility all together. I am not sure what to think at this point...

A friend told me I should get one of those recently and after doing my research I just don't think it's a good idea. I have never been a big fan of any type of foreign object (especially a copper one) being left in my body. It just seems unnatural. I hope you feel better!

Ive been planning on getting this...it sounds like you had a terrible doctor! I'm sorry for you're pain & worry & suffering. I wish you luck on having another little one down the road!

I am so glad you are ok.

I got on Mirena and got off of it 6 months later. I seriously believe this is a toxic piece of plastic that should never enter a woman's body. I thankfully have a doctor who removed it immediately without question.
