About 1 1/2 months ago I had to have my mirena implant removed surgically and was put on the birth control pill tri Nessa... so far I had been doing pretty good on it even losing some weight but last week I got my first cycle since being on the tri nessa is was really light and only lasted 2& a half days ... since then I have been experiencing bad head aches and my lower back has been really sore and I cannot seem to smell anything... I was wondering if any of you have ever taken tri nessa and if this is a common side effect or if you guys think I should see the doctor?

I have never been on that brand, but what you describe sounds "normal" to me. It takes months for your body to adjust anytime you start or stop hormones. I really hate the way my body handles hormones.

Your Mirena story has me paranoid! Were you still able to feel the strings when you had it removed? I have frequent headaches, numbness, spotting, etc. Anytime I exercise or lift anything even slightly heavy I spot pretty heavy for a few hours after. I want it out, but we can't afford it right now. We have a high deductible and just spent all of our health savings and part of regular savings on daughter's ER visit. Plus, I'm scared to get pregnant right now and want to wait until we can afford it more in a year or two. I regret ever getting this thing.

I was on that BC for about three months, but then I ended up going with something cheaper through my insurance. Anyway, I experienced completely normal periods during that time. But because you were on Mirena first, idk. Could just be the hormones acting weird. I think it might be a good idea to go see your doc about it. At the very least he/she could put your mind at ease if it just your hormones freaking out momentarily. Good luck!

Those are normal side effects of Tri Nessa. It will keep the lining of your uterus thin to prevent implantation, which means there is less bleeding to shed when you have your period. Headaches are a normal side effect of synthetic hormones.

It's also important to know that combined OC's are also classified as a Class 1 carcinogens by the World Health Organization.

Pills that contain a combination of hormones have been linked causing cancer.
