How long does it take to get pregnant if you stop taking the pill after taking it for 15 years?

Everyone is different! Some get pregnant right away, others take much longer. Average recovery from the effects of the Pill takes 3 - 18 months. It also depends on your reproductive health. If there were any fertility problems before you went on the Pill, they will still be there when you come off. Age is also a factor in fertility.

I just saw this post and wanted to reply!

I was on BC pills for about 12 years or so and was told by my OB that it would take 6 months to a year to coneive. I stopped taking my pills one day and didn't think about TTC at all. Fast forward about 3-4 months later and I took a pregnancy test for the first time ever and was shocked to see a positive test! I was already about 11 weeks along and it turns out I conceived about a few weeks after stopping my pills but had no idea I was pregnant because I didn't feel pregnant and it was normal for me to go 3 months without having a period. So be ready for anything abd good luck TTC!

I have also been told that it takes anywhere from 3-18 months depending on the individual.

Also, how long should you be off the pill before you try and get pregnant?

You should give your body at least 3 months off the Pill before trying. The Pill works by keeping the lining of your uterus thin, so that if conception occurs - the pregnancy can't continue. Waiting 3 months gives time for the uterine lining to build up again and reduce the chance of miscarriage.
