Hi girls, I am about to go to my 6 week PP appt. At the appt my Dr. is going to ask me about birth control. Any thoughts on what is highly effective? I got pregnant with my first daughter while on the Depo shot (Had been on it for almost 1 year) and got pregnant with my second daughter while on the patch (Ortho Evra) (again on for nearly 1 year) and used a condom. I have no luck when it comes to Birth control it seems.

IUDs are very effective. They have a hormonal & non-hormonal one. I'm a bit shocked that you got preggo on Depo-you are a fertile mertle.

I was going to suggest the IUD as well. I have the 10 year one, Paragard. I love it!! There is also the 5 year one, Merena. They are both as effective as sterilization.

Natural Family Planning is 96-99% effective, depending on the method you choose and provided you learn it from a certified instructor (which only takes about an hour of your time and a small fee for materials - $50 or so).

I am also voting for the IUD. I am planning on getting one put in when I go for my 6 week pp check up (which should have been last week but my doctor sucks and I keep getting rescheduled.)

It's very effective, and you don't have to worry about pills, patches, and shots.
