I've had high BP since my daughter was born in January. I'm on Bp meds now amd at my at my 6 wk PP appt in Feb. my Dr wouldn't put me on any other Birth Control but the Mini Pill. I am not breastfeeding and never have from what I hear it's not that effective if your not Breastfeeding. So I am wondering if I have any other options out there so far I've been ok on the Mimi Pill for 8 months now but I don't want to end up pregnant.

The mini-pill is effective when you are not BFing so long as you take it within the same 60 minute window everday. Example, I take mine at 10pm everynight, on the nose. Anything after 11pm, would probably start increasingly the likelihood that I will get pregnant. The mini-pill also can supress ovulation atleast half the time. No ovulation - No baby!

Im actually warming up to the mini-pill now. So far -- No baby and the few side effects I have -- Not too bad.

I have never heard of someone with high BP taking a combo pill. Its very dangerous, and i am not sure if BP meds will interact with the combo pill.

I think anything hormonal is VERY risky with high blood pressure. Natural Family Planning (when learned properly from a certified instructor) is 99% effective for avoiding pregnancy and doesn't carry any health risks with it. Something to consider...
