I hate condoms & the pill. And withdrawal method. Condoms just make it last forever (because DH is "desensitized"), the pill I could never remember to take, and withdrawal - well, let's just say I wound up pregnant! Yeah, it's hard to do that one effectively when you're both drunk! LoL

I just started using NuvaRing 3 weeks ago, and so far I love it! There are a couple of small issues that I can live with, like it "dislodged" one morning, so I just took it out, rinsed it, and reinserted it. Otherwise, nothing negative to say about it! I am interested in the Mirena though, I also don't care if I miss my periods or not!

Well I got pregnant with NFP when trying not to get pregnant. Oops. So I would have to say that was the least effectivie one for me....but not that I am complaining, that beautiful little gal in my siggy is the result of that. It's just we can't have anymore oops.

Oh that's too bad you weren't satisfied with it! Which type of NFP were you doing? Did your NFP instructor conduct a pregnancy investigation with your charting to figure out what happened? At least that's one of the great things about most NFP organizations, they take things like that very seriously. If NFP didn't work because of poor training or something, they want to know so they can update the instructor's training for quality assurance!

Nope it was my fault. I had two younger kids and was up off and on throughout some nights, which must have raised my temp. Thought I ovulated days before, didn't use back up, and well here I was looking at 2 pink lines (2 beautiful pink lines that is). It was an awesome plan to use to get pregnant, but she's our 3rd and for sure I'm 100% done. So we decided to have the hubby get the snip. Since then I had an IUD put in for medical reasons...but that alas didn't work either for my issues..which is a whole other story.

I mean the good thing is I know exactly when and how it happened. That's the great point of NFP. You really get to know and understand your own body.

What did I learn from all of this? Well some people NFP is perfect for, some people IUD's are perfect for, others pills, and on and on. The great things is there are different options for everyone. And man do I know I haved tried quite a few. Some works for some, some not for others. And you have to find that perfect method that fits both your lifestyle, your choices, and what your body responds best to.

I've used withdrawal, the pill, the patch, FAM, and just tried the sponge. I haven't hated any of them really. I got lucky with withdrawal (as a teen). I've always done fine with the pill. I LOVED FAM and would do it again if but I think it would be difficult for me with a baby who part-time cosleeps.

I guess my least favorite was the patch - didn't like the residue it left and then when I started hearing about the blood clot problems it could potentially cause I quit using it.

Wow, this is an old thread!

1) The pill. For me it worked well except that I can NOT remember to take a pill every day.

2) Condoms. Only used them twice. Too much fuss for me.

3) The ring. OMG, I wanted to love this soooooo much, but even though it is a lower dose of hormones than the pill, it made me WAY crazy and completely shut down my sex drive. HATED it.

We did FAM + withdrawl for 5 years with great success, and then took a risk with it and got Elizabeth. Thankfully we were married by then and in a good financial position and ended up loving the timing. Since she was born (2 years) we have been using the same method with much stricter rules and are still happy.

Once we are done having kids I *hope* the copper IUD works well for me. If not, I hope DH might go for a vas.

Wow....very interesting reading what the likes and dislikes are!! I quit BC about 2 years ago. Hated it. Hated remembering to take it. I hated remembering to take it at the same time every day!! Who does that? Who can? I didnt...heck I even forgot a few days...Oops. & like another poster said....anything with hormones cant be too good for your body. My periods are more regular since I quit BC too! I know exactly when its coming and I love that.

We've only used condoms a few times. DH does not like them at all. & I dont either. Just like another girl said in this post....why have sex? It doesnt make it fun. & my DH has to get bigger ones bc he said the normal ones are just to tight and he loses feeling.

So up until this month we had been using the pull out method with no surprises. But now we are TTC.

Curious, what is NFP??

NFP is Natural Family Planning. It's usually a combo of charting and avoiding fertile days.

That's what we were doing before I got pregnant...but I ovulated 4-5 days earlier than normal and we weren't being careful and VOILA! Baby

That's ok for us though, we were planning on TTC a few months later than when it happened!
