I'm Liz, married to Steve and just had my first baby, Elliott, 4 weeks and 1 day ago...pics below I am totally in love with being a mom! It took us several years to get pregnant, so it's been really special.
I am a deputy sheriff for Dane County in Wisconsin. In my county, all deputies are sworn officers, even though everyone has to start their careers working in the jail. Jail deputies can also do overtime outside of the jail, so they can still get to experience arrests, etc. It's much easier being sworn in the jail because if we find drugs, or if an inmate batters someone, we can charge them ourselves which saves time.
Currently, I am a lead worker in booking (Booking Deputy) from 3p-11p, so I am in charge of booking in all arrests. I am on family leave right now and go back to work the beginning of June. I'm a little nervous about going back...I love being with my baby, and I am afraid I won't be able to concentrate as much when I get back to work! I've always loved my job, but obviously some of my priorities have changed since having a baby. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering how it's going to be juggling a really busy job and still feeling like I am giving my little guy what he deserves?
Well, hopefully I will get to know more of you as time goes by!
Hi Liz! I am Patty, one of the Hosts here. Welcome to the board. Jump right on in and start posting. I am 34 years old, my bf is Jonah, I am mom to Sean who is 13, and Dani who is 7. I was a Paramedic for over 10 yrs before health issues forced me off the truck and I miss it terribly. I had my son when I worked full time and had to juggle a career and being not just a mom, but a single mom. It was tough, but you can do it. We do have several moms here that are wives of Law Enf. here.
Hi and welcome. I am am Brigitte mom of three. 2 girls and 1 boy. I work in the private security industry as a guard and a private investigator. My dh works for the city as a Bi-Law Enforcement officer. Being in a patrol car in high risk sites I had concerns to when I first went back to work. I guess being in Canada we are lucky and get up to a year off. 6 months maternity and 6 mths paternity. I guess I can say it will come easier with time.
