Name your kid after a game character? What are your thoughts? Too weird?

If this baby is a boy it'll be named after Zack from "Crisis Core". I wanted to use Cissnei(Cici for short) for girl but DH is "eh" over it since it's not a "normal" name. So clearly I have no problem with naming after games but of course as long as it's not too weird of a name, I sure wouldn't name them anything like Tseng.

If I love a name, I definitely would if I could get DH to agree to it.

I tried to talk dh into Lincoln nn Link after 'Legend of Zelda' but he wouldn't agree to it, lol. Dh's favorite name is Alys after a character in 'Phantasy Star' and since I did give him carte blanc when it came to naming the baby if it's a girl, there's a strong chance he'll pick some combo with it.

I would name one after a character name that I created, but I can't think of one already in circulation that I would want to use. I use the name Khilani or Jozlyn for MMO characters and I would definitely name a little girl that.. too bad I had a boy.

Dante or Nero - from Devil May Cry, but I know DF would not agree with Nero.

If Joseph had been a girl he was going to be Jania (after Jaina our of Wow lol!)

If we ever had another baby (though I doubt it would happen) I think we would name it after a FF game now I am into them lol!

I'd consider it if it wasn't totally obviously after a game character. I think the names everyone listed here are fine since their either names in their own right or ones that I don't think the average non-gamer would automatically think is from a game.
I can't think of a game character ATM, but when I was pregnant DH wanted to name DS #1 Alexander. I was on board with it until he said he wanted him to have the nickname Lex. I think most people (at least in the US) would automatically think Lex Luthor, and that's who DH wanted to name him after! I totally put the kabosh on that.
I feel like just because you love a game/movie/book/whatever doesn't mean your kid will and he/she may not like it if everyone associates him/her with the inspiration for his/her name.
I'm probably more sensitive than most people since my name IRL is hard to spell and it drives me nuts! (Come on you didn't think my real name was Jean Grey, did you?)

Personally, I don't like that idea... but then again, my given name is Bambi. I wasn't actually named after the Disney character but that's what my name is immediately associated with. As a result I went through hell when I was a kid and still do as an adult on some occasions (hence going by Bam). When it comes to naming offspring it's always been my opinion that the child's future has to be considered and every kind of possible ridicule that they could possibly go through be thought about.

I see so many people naming their kids unusual, weird, crazy-spelled and barely pronounceable names and I worry about what kind of crap the poor thing will have to go through... after all, children are cruel.

I should add that Hubby wanted to make Annabelle's middle name "Deadpool". >.<

Depends on the name. I play a lot of fantasy games though so most of the names are made up or borrowed from mythology. I love mythological names and would name my daughter if I had one Persephone (like in God Of War) but people may pronounce it wrong. Athena is always one i've admired. As for a son I like the names Dante or Nero but Dante is a bit to common for me and DF doesn't care much for Nero. Maybe Arthas? jk
